about us

Hello and welcome to 8  Lives!

We are a new and very small rescue, set up with the aim of helping cats in need in the Sheffield 8 post code.  “8 Lives” reflects both the post code and the sad reality that cats and kittens who come to us have invariably lost at least one of their 9 lives by the time they get to us.

Many of our readers will be familiar with us as the accidental fosterer …. well …. I guess this is the next stage …. we’re now the accidental rescue.  It wasn’t planned like this.   We’d planned to foster and then adopt a couple of cats and then  keep the spare bedroom for the odd foster cat or two.  However they quickly encroached on “the room formerly known as the study” and at times pushed their way into “the room formerly known as MY bedroom”.    Over eighty foster cats (from all over south yorkshire)  later, and a lot of lessons learned, we’ve decided it’s time to go independent and focus on the cats closer to home.

We’re delighted to have the support of Millhouses Vets4Pets …. plus some lovely friends in cat rescue and wonderful people who have adopted foster cats from me in the past and kept in touch and offered support.

Although we aim to limit the cats we take in to those in the Sheffield 8 area, we are very happy to re home to most places in South Yorkshire and North Derbyshire – Sheffield, Rotherham, Dronfield, Chesterfield etc.

We’d love to be able to help everyone ….. sadly we can’t

what a lot of people think we are!
