Lyra had her kittens on 12 April 2014. They’ve had a fairly unusual start in life in that Mowgli, the tom cat who came into rescue with an already pregnant Lyra, has insisted on staying with her through the birth and bringing them up. We don’t know if he’s their daddy or not. Have a look at the main section of the blog for more info about this.
They’re available to be reserved to go to their new homes when they’re about 12 weeks old. Humans who have reserved kittens will be welcome to visit them regularly until they are ready to leave so that they all have a chance to get to know each other. We prefer for them to go in pairs, or to homes where there are friendly older cats to show them the ropes. They will be vaccinated and microchipped and up date with wormers when they go to their new homes. It will be a condition of the adoption that they be neutered at 6 months (or earlier if your vet is agreeable to it).
Naturally they will need to stay indoors until they have been neutered and until they are at least 6 months old. After that they will like to have a safe garden to explore.
We always homecheck prior to adoption and ask a minimum adoption donation of £60 for each kitten. Our full adoption process can be found here: http://www.8livescatrescue.org/adoption-process.html
